Pre-announcement released for CIHR network grant in skin health: potential for renewed SkIN Canada funding over 5 years.

First CIHR-funded clinical trial to be accepted into SkIN Canada C-NeST (Canadian Network for Skin Disease Trials) portfolio:

SPRINTR (Skin Cancer Prevention with Nicotinamide in Transplant Recipients) is a multicentre, randomized placebo-controlled trial evaluating the use of nicotinamide to prevent keratinocyte carcinoma after solid organ transplantation. The pragmatic pivotal trial involves dermatologists and transplant physicians from 8 sites across Canada. Led by Professors An-Wen Chan (dermatologist) and Joseph Kim (transplant nephrologist), SPRINTR was ranked first among 40 operating grant applications reviewed by the CIHR Randomized Controlled Trials Committee in Fall 2021. SPRINTR will benefit from SkIN Canada’s data infrastructure, patient partnerships, and knowledge translation resources.
