Biography

Natalie Kermany is a first-year medical student at Dalhousie University and currently serves as the Patient Research Partner (PRP) for the Training Committee of SkIN Canada. She previously worked in federal government as a Policy & Planning Analyst at the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and completed her Master of Science degree focused in behavioural ecology at the University of Ottawa prior to that. In addition to SkIN Canada, she volunteers as a Patient Advisor, Grant Reviewer, and Symposium Speaker for the Canadian Skin Patient Alliance (CSPA) and is passionate about advocating for patients living with skin conditions. Natalie has lived experience with a variety of skin conditions, including vitiligo, lichen planus, acne, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, eczema, and cold/heat urticaria. She is especially interested in bringing awareness to the mental health impacts that skin patients experience, and increasing available treatments for skin patients of colour.
